Church Road, Leyton E10

Church Road for Galliard Homes Link365 was the main mechanical engineering contractor. The project comprised 48 high-spec apartments and townhouses.

Church Road is located on a corner site with Tallack Road and Church Road in front of it. This development, which is a part of the Help to Buy Scheme, intends to contribute back to the community. The townhouses and flats have a number of amenities, including:

  • New-build development in London’s Zone 3
  • Modern apartments and luxurious townhouses
  • Balcony, terrace, or garden for each home
  • 15 minutes walk from Lea Bridge station

Our engineers installed individual water cylinders and heat pumps in each apartment utility cupboard as part of Link365’s scope of work. The townhomes each had their own heat pump installed.

As part of our remit, Link365 installed Glen Dimplex Zeroth Energy System which provides an energy-efficient, low carbon heating and hot water solution for the building. Additional air source heat pumps were installed on the roof and underfloor heating was installed throughout.

Link365 managed and coordinated the mechanical services and our engineers installed the sanitary ware, radiator heating installation, exterior rainwater system, plant room, thermal insulation, MEV ventilation and ducting system.
Utilising the teams vast knowledge, abilities, and skill set led to a great delivery for this exciting project.

Challenges

This project required the design and installation of an innovative renewable energy system to provide heating and hot water services using a network of hybrid heat pumps to 48 apartments and 2 townhouses. This was the first installation of its kind in the UK.

100+ RFI’s, technical submissions and stress testing the whole team before embarking on the installation, created the solid foundations to deliver such innovative product design and ensured a smooth delivery, resolving any challenges as they occurred. Multiple logistic challenges were overcome with Link365’s proficiency and determination to succeed, the most significant being the positioning of each compact and heavy unit into each apartment. Using the lift was not an option!

Link365’s previous knowledge and experience when designing and installing single or multiple units, enabled the simplification of engineered elements, to achieve the desired price and for the project to be delivered on time and within budget.

End of Project Reflection

The knowledge and experience gained from this project is the foundation for future hybrid, multi-unit installations.  Glen Dimplex continues to remotely monitor every single apartment and the plant room, consistently tweaking, refining and learning, to further advance the product and design.

The Link365 team is now recognised as the preferred installer of complex heat pump systems due to the tenacity, integrity and care applied to this project. From conception to completion the team were outstanding and pivotal to Link365 gaining this elevated status within the construction sector.

Link365 are extremely proud to have collaborated with Galliard Homes, Glen Dimplex, EDC Engineering  and to have solely led the mechanical install element of this project, to achieve the first installation of its kind in the UK.
