We are proud to introduce our newest collaboration with Bennett Construction on an exciting venture for senior living in the Greater Cambridge area: Strawberry Fields. Designed for the over-60 demographic, this vibrant lifestyle community will comprise 148 contemporary 1, 2, and 3-bedroom residences, with the initial phase slated for completion by 2025.
Spanning 12 blocks, including 129 apartments and 18 bungalows, Strawberry Fields offers a diverse range of housing options tailored to varying needs and preferences. Each block, featuring both ground and first floors, epitomizes flexibility and adaptability. All the apartments are designed with a focus on modernity and sustainability, incorporating Daikin Altherma low-temperature units with an integrated hot water cylinder that provide Hot & Cold water and underfloor heating for maximum comfort and energy efficiency.
Strawberry Fields isn’t just about housing; it’s a vibrant community hub where residents can forge meaningful connections and embrace a fulfilling lifestyle. Block A, located on the ground floor, will house an array of amenities including a spa, restaurant, pool, gym, and hair salon, fostering a dynamic environment for social interaction and leisure pursuits.
The development integrates cutting-edge amenities and eco-conscious features throughout. From energy-efficient Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems to comprehensive underfloor heating, every aspect of these residences is crafted with both comfort and environmental responsibility in mind.
The project presented a unique set of challenges, primarily due to its location outside of London and the resulting difficulty in securing a steady supply of qualified plumbers. Working with a smaller labour pool required careful planning and adaptability to maintain installation quality throughout the programme.
In addition, the project highlighted the importance of early-stage coordination. Some design and trade-alignment issues emerged as the works progressed, which placed additional pressure on the delivery team toward the end of the project. These experiences reinforced the value of establishing strong, collaborative communication and clear responsibilities from the outset.
Material management also required close attention. Without a dedicated storeman in place from day one, controlling stock and ensuring materials were always available demanded extra effort from the site team. Despite these obstacles, proactive management and teamwork allowed the project to continue moving forward successfully.

Despite a few challenges along the way, the final product was well received, and any issues such as the leaks encountered, were managed professionally and resolved to the client’s satisfaction. The positive outcome reflects the team’s commitment, resilience, and ability to work constructively under pressure.
The project also provided valuable insights that will strengthen future delivery. Appointing a dedicated storeman from the beginning and engaging only trusted, proven plumbers are key improvements that would further enhance efficiency and quality control on similar projects. These lessons serve as opportunities for continuous development and refinement of our processes.
